HYUNDAI GRAND I10 UNVEILED IN INDIA; CAR TO FEATURE 1.1 LITER TURBO DIESEL ENGINE

The Hyundai Grand i10 is here and the car is the latest hatchback from the South Korean car maker for the Indian car market. The Grand i10, as its name suggests, is a much bigger car than the i10. The Grand i10 will sit between the i10 and the i20 in India. We think that the Grand i10 is an India-only model as Hyundai also unveiled the international version of the 2014 i10, a car that is slightly smaller than the Grand i10 and one that also features slightly different styling.

The Hyundai Grand i10 comes with a Fluidic design inspired styling and looks typically Hyundai with the family hexagonal front grille. The car is much bigger than the i10 hatchback. The length of the new car is a full 100 mm longer than the current i10 hatchback model and the wheelbase has increased too. These changes have made the Grand i10 much more spacious than the current i10. Hyundai plans to take on the Maruti Ritz and Ford Figo in terms of the Grand i10′s pricing.

So, Hyundai will now have a hatchback that will attract hatchback buyers who find the i20 too pricey and who would have otherwise looked at other options like the Ritz, Micra and Figo. The Grand i10 also gets a diesel engine option. A 1.1 liter-3 cylinder turbo diesel engine will be used on the car and this engine could produce 74 Bhp and 152 Nm. The engine will be paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox. The car also gets the 1.2 liter Kappa petrol engine, which will get a 5 speed manual gearbox and a 4 speed automatic gearbox.

With the rear AC vents, Hyundai wants to attract buyers who want a comfortable rear seat. Hyundai also could be using the AC vents to highlight the spaciousness of the car. The Grand i10 will be launched in India on the 4th of September. Prices could start from 4 lakh rupees for the petrol model and 5 lakh rupees for the diesel model.
