Police scrutinizing recently received info on Princess Diana

London (CNN) -- London's Metropolitan Police Service said Saturday that it is looking into information it recently received related to the 1997 deaths of Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Al Fayed.
"This is not a re-investigation," the service said in a statement. The assessment of the information will be carried out by officers from the Specialist Crime and Operations Command.
An inquest concluded in 2008 that their deaths in a car accident in Paris were the result of "grossly negligent driving of the following vehicles and of the Mercedes."
The announcement coincides with published reports of a new movie about a reported affair between the princess and a heart surgeon and the upcoming anniversary of the deaths -- which is August 31.
