Huawei Ascend P1 up for pre-order in India at Rs 12,990

The Huawei Ascend P1 is up for pre-order through a couple of e-retailers in India over a year after it received official recognition. However, we did see Huawei collaborating with Airtel to launch the device’s LTE variant in the country, last October.
Even though the smartphone falls in the low-budget segment, it will have to compete with a plethora of devices that are currently cluttering the market. It comes with Android Ice Cream Sandwich which could prove to be a disadvantage, bearing in mind that Jelly Bean has begun crawling into way cheaper handsets such as the Xolo A500S and the Videocon A24.

Let’s not forget that India is also a market replete with inexpensive quad core gadgets and all that the Huawei Ascend P1 has to offer is a dual core chipset trudging at a clock speed of 1.5GHz. The phone’s front panel features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, while its rear shows off an 8MP camera touting auto focus and a dual LED flash.
In addition to internal memory of 4GB, the handset packs 1GB of RAM. If users find the inbuilt storage space insufficient, a microSD card slot embedded on the phone facilitates expansion of up to 32GB. We know that a 1,670mAh battery paves its way into the gadget, but there is no mention of the operation time derivable.
Flipkart and Infibeam have both begun taking orders for the Ascend P1 which can be seen flashing a price tag of Rs 12,990.
